Gospel Plan of Salvation: Outline

  1. Man is separated from God by sin, bringing death to all.
    1. Gen 2:16-17 (God's first regulation)
    2. Gen 3:6-7 (The first sin and consequence)
    3. Isa 59:1-2 (Our sin separates us from God)
    4. Eze 18:4, 20 (Each of us are responsible for our own sins)
    5. Rom 3:23 (All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God)
    6. Rom 5:12 (All will die because all sinned)

  2. God planned a plan to redeem fallen man, the gospel (good news).
    1. John 17:17 (God's word is truth)
    2. Eph 3:11 (God has an eternal purpose)
    3. Eph 1:10 (Summing up all things in Christ)
    4. Eph 1:9 (God's will, once a mystery, now revealed)
    5. Eph 1:7 (He has given us forgiveness)
    6. Eph 1:13-14; Rom 1:15-16 (The gospel is that message of salvation)

  3. The gospel message: Jesus came to save us from our sins, and free us from death.
    1. John 12:47 (Jesus came to save the world)
    2. 1Tim 1:15 (Jesus came to save sinners)
    3. Matt 20:28, Gal 1:4, 1Tim 2:6 (He gave Himself as a ransom -- payment -- for us)
    4. Acts 2:22-24,36 (Given up to die, raised again, Son of God)
    5. Heb 2:14; Rom 1:1-4(In death victorious. By resurrection, proven the Son of God)
    6. Rom 5:8-10 (By his death and resurrection, He reconciled us to God, and saved us from God's wrath)

  4. God saves us by His mercy, we can't earn the right to heaven.
    1. John 14:6, Acts 4:10-12 (Jesus is the only way to salvation)
    2. Rom 6:23 (Wages of sin -- what we earn -- is death, God's free gift is life)
    3. Gal 2:16 (Works of law can't justify us)
    4. Isa 64:6 (All our righteous deeds are as filthy garments)
    5. 2Tim 1:8-10 (Not works, but His purpose and grace)
    6. Eph 2:8-9 (By grace we are saved through faith)

  5. God asks us to be obedient to His Word.
    1. Jas 2:14-26 (Must have a working faith)
    2. Matt 7:21-23 (Those who do the will of God)
    3. Rom 6:17-18 (Freed from sin by obedience)
    4. Heb 5:8-9 (Salvation to those who obey Christ)
    5. 1Pet 1:2-22 (Purified souls in obedience to the truth)
    6. 2Thess 1:8 (The gospel was meant to be obeyed)

  6. God's plan of salvation, what He expects.
    1. Rom 10:14-17; John 6:45 (We must hear the Gospel first)
    2. John 8:24; Rom 10:9-10; Heb 11:6 (Believe and place your trust in Him)
    3. Luke 24:47; Acts 2:37-38 (Repent of sins)
    4. Rom 10:9-10; Matt 10:32-33 (Confess Him as Lord)
    5. Acts 2:37-38; Mk 16:16 (Obey His command -- be baptized for forgiveness of sins)
    6. Acts 2:42; Gal 1:8; Phil 1:27; 1Thess 4:1-2; 2Thess 2:15; 1 John 5:1-3; 2John 1:9 (Continue in apostle's teaching and doctrine)
